School Attendance Officer

Full-time, 37 hours a week – Term-time only (38 weeks)

We’re currently working with a fantastic secondary school in South Birmingham who are seeking a committed and motivated Attendance Officer to join their team. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and understands the importance of regular school attendance in helping them thrive.

The successful candidate will work closely with staff and students to monitor and track full-time attendance and punctuality, while also offering a supportive presence to those facing social, emotional, or behavioural challenges. You’ll play a vital role in keeping students engaged in their learning and connected to their school community.

What we’re looking for:

  • Someone with previous attendance experience
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills
  • A proactive, calm, and approachable manner when working with students and families
  • The ability to keep accurate records and follow up on attendance concerns effectively
  • A team player who can also work independently and show initiative
  • Experience working with young people in an education or support setting is essential

This is a key pastoral role requiring empathy, resilience, and the confidence to liaise with families and external agencies when needed. Based mainly at the school site, you’ll be part of a warm and supportive team dedicated to helping every student reach their potential.

Your application will be subject to an enhanced child only DBS and two educational references, so it is essential that you have previous experience of working in an Education Setting.
