Monarch Education is thrilled to announce we are partnering with a special needs school in Handsworth that are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their team. The position is a full-time role. Available on a term-time only basis, with a start date in September.

We are looking for a resilient TA who can provide hands-on support where necessary, empowering students to reach their full potential. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEND) and possess a deep understanding of the challenges faced by these students.

What is the role available?

You would be working in a lovely school in Handsworth (ages 4-14) with a variety of social, emotional and mental health needs. You will need to enable vulnerable students to regulate their emotions and to model and teach appropriate interactions. A good knowledge of the National Curriculum is vital for this role, as well as experience managing challenging behaviour.

The ideal candidate would have:

  • SEN teaching experience
  • A knowledge of Makaton, PECS communication, and Autism Awareness would be a HUGE advantage
  • A good knowledge of the National Curriculum
  • Resilience
  • A range of behaviour management strategies
  • Knowledge of Phonics
  • A wide range of sensory learning methods
