Autism Learning Support Assistant

Monarch Education, is looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join a vibrant Special Educational Needs (SEN) team within a mainstream school in Swindon. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, and other additional needs.

🧩 About the Role:

As an Autism Learning Support Assistant, you’ll work closely with teachers and support staff to create a nurturing, inclusive environment where every child can thrive. You’ll play a key role in helping pupils build confidence, develop independence, and achieve their personal and academic goals.

💡 What You’ll Be Doing:

• Supporting pupils during lessons, activities, and playtimes
• Delivering 1:1 or small group interventions tailored to individual needs
• Encouraging communication, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour
• Assisting with sensory and learning needs in a calm, patient manner
• Helping to track progress and celebrate achievements
• Creating a safe, supportive space where children feel valued and understood

👤 Who We’re Looking For:

• Experience working with children or young people (formal or informal)
• A calm, caring, and resilient approach to supporting additional needs
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn new strategies
• Experience with ASC, ADHD, or similar conditions is highly desirable
• Knowledge of Makaton, sign language, or alternative communication methods is a bonus-but not essential!

• Ability to work full-time, Monday to Friday
• Enhanced Child Workforce DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
