Behaviour Assistant

Weekly Pay Rates – £450.00-£550.00 (Depending on experience)

Monarch Education are working in partnership with an outstanding SEND school, in the Henbury area of Bristol. This is an exciting opportunity for compassionate and resilient, Behaviour Assistants, to assistant with pupils, between 9-16, working at Key Stage 2 level. We’re looking to arrange informal interviews at the school with the view to an immediate start, leading in to opportunities at the school in September 2024. The school requires staff whom are passionate SEN Behaviour Mentors, that want to make a difference.

The Role:

As a behaviour assistant at this school, class consist of up 5 pupils with a mixture of autism, PDA, developmental trauma delay and SEMH. You’ll be heavily supported by other behaviour assistants, 2 Higher Level Teaching Assistants and a class teacher, so excellent communication skills and team work will be required.

The school is a beautiful SEN school, based on vast garden grounds, with heavy emphasis on outdoor learning. The school offers a diverse, dynamic environment and inclusive of students with a variety of special educational needs. The school aims to provide bespoke education to it’s pupils with the intention of helping their students with their social and emotional needs, to achieve their full potential.

Start date: ASAP

Hours of work: Full Time- 8:15-16:45

The ideal candidate will:

· Excited about working with children and being creative

· Confident managing children’s behaviour

· Emotionally resilient

· An approachable, friendly character

· Aware or have experience of supporting children and adults with additional needs

Main Responsibilities:

  • Teaching a variety of subjects to pupils working to KS2 curriculum
  • Planning lessons and activities for whole class learning and group learning
  • Supporting SEND children with their work in a class setting
  • Managing difficult behaviours and implementing the school behaviour policy
  • Safeguarding vulnerable pupils
  • Working in a holistic outdoor learning environment
  • Focus on social-emotional learning and core subjects
  • Possible supervising on lunch and break times
  • Supporting and managing teaching assistants within the classroom
  • Building relationships with staff and pupils
  • Collecting evidence of pupils work to support their assessments
  • Feedback to the relevant member of staff about the pupils progress
  • To have pastoral responsibility for a group of pupils
  • Potentially lead in a subject area
  • Ensure a team approach to education with stakeholders such as parents and carers
