BSL Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a Teaching Assistant with experience and expertise in British Sign Language to join a secondary school based in B30. The successful candidate will be assisting students in KS4 with hearing impairments to access the curriculum and fully participate in school life. If you are passionate about inclusive education and committed to supporting students with hearing impairments, we would love to hear from you! This is a full-time position starting January 2025.

Role & Responsibilities

• Assisting students with hearing impairments in communicating effectively, using British Sign Language to bridge any communication gaps.
• Ensuring the classroom is a calm, inclusive, and supportive space where all students feel comfortable and confident
• Assisting with classroom tasks, managing small group activities, and providing extra support during lessons to ensure students are fully engaged.
• Collaborate with teachers to implement strategies for student success.

Requirements:

• Has experience in British Sign Language (BSL) and can effectively communicate with students.
• A strong commitment to uphold the school’s core values of respect for all

• Excellent classroom management and communication skills
