CARETAKER

Location: Halesowen

Hours: 07:00 to 15:00

We are a looking for an experienced school Caretaker to assist a large secondary school in Halesowen. This is a full time, ongoing position and your working hours would be 07.00 – 15.00 Monday to Friday. Some weekend work may be required if contractors are on site but this would be on an occasional basis throughout the year.

As a School Caretaker, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the school premises ensuring a safe and well maintained environment for staff and students.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Opening and closing the building ensuring the site is safe and secure
  • Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs
  • Checking heating, lighting, and alarm systems.
  • Moving furniture and arranging chairs and tables for meetings or assemblies.
  • Maintaining cleanliness in line with best practices and health regulations.
  • Undertaking general cleaning tasks
  • Supervising cleaning staff on site
  • Adhere to all school Quality, Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all equipment is kept clean, well maintained and is a safe working order.
  • Have a full working knowledge of all cleaning equipment, materials and approved chemicals.
  • Undertake and oversee all cleaning of internal and external spaces.
  • Carry out all planned and ad hoc porterage.
  • Act as first attendee to all maintenance tasks and resolve or feedback requirements to SLT
  • Set-up rooms for the use of examinations / school functions etc and return to usual lay out following the function.
  • Carry out all PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) tasks as required and in line with statutory compliance, including weekly fire alarm and sprinkler tests and monthly emergency light flick tests.
  • Cover out of hours usage of the building as agreed with school lettings.
  • Ensure access is provided for contractors and contractors are always escorted if relevant DBS clearance is not available.
  • Ensure all Safeguarding Policies are always adhered to and raise any concerns in line with school policy.

Caretaking experience is preferred, however similar experience can be accepted. You must have sound knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations is required.
