Monarch Education is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to join a specialist educational setting in Staffordshire. The Role

As a Complex Needs Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require highly personalised support throughout the school day. You’ll play a vital role in helping students access learning, develop independence, build confidence, and achieve meaningful progress both academically and socially.

Working alongside teachers, therapists, and other support professionals, you will contribute to creating positive learning experiences tailored to each pupil’s unique needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with a range of complex learning needs.
• Support children with autism, communication difficulties, physical disabilities, sensory processing needs, and medical requirements.
• Assist with implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and personalised learning programmes.
• Encourage pupils’ independence, confidence, and social development.
• Support communication using visual aids, PECS, Makaton, or other communication strategies where appropriate.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, parents, and staff.
• Assist with personal care and mobility support where required.
• Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.

What We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from candidates who have:

• A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or relevant experience.
• Previous experience supporting children or young people with complex needs in education, care, healthcare, or community settings.
• Experience working with pupils with autism (ASC), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), severe learning difficulties (SLD), physical disabilities, or complex communication needs.
• A patient, caring, and adaptable approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• The ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations.
• A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.

Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEN Support Worker, Care Worker, Residential Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant, or Youth Worker is highly desirable.
