Monarch Education is looking for enthusiastic and confident Cover Supervisors to work on a flexible supply basis across a variety of secondary schools throughout Swindon and the surrounding areas. Whether you’re looking for regular work throughout the week or a flexible role that fits around other commitments, supply work gives you the opportunity to choose when you work while gaining valuable experience across different school settings.

The Role As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during the short-term absence of the usual teacher. Work will already be prepared for you, so your main responsibility will be to ensure students remain focused, engaged and on task throughout the lesson. You could be working across a range of subjects and year groups, making this a varied and rewarding role for anyone who enjoys working with young people.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise classes in the absence of the usual classroom teacher

• Deliver pre-prepared work and instructions provided by the school

• Ensure students remain focused and engaged with their learning

• Manage classroom behaviour effectively and maintain a positive learning environment

• Support students where appropriate with the work provided

• Follow individual school policies and procedures

• Provide feedback to teaching staff at the end of lessons where required

• Build positive and professional relationships with students and school staff

The Ideal Candidate

• Confident working with secondary-aged students

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Good classroom and behaviour management skills

• Reliable, professional and adaptable

• A positive and enthusiastic approach to working with young people

• Previous experience within a school, education, coaching, youth work or similar environment would be beneficial

• Able to travel to schools across Swindon and surrounding areas

• Committed to safeguarding and supporting student wellbeing
