Monarch Education are working in partnership with a large Secondary Academy in Denton, Tameside who are looking for an Education Welfare Officer to join their team in an exciting new role to the Academy.
The Academy is committed to working to improve the attendance of pupils across the school. This is a new project the school are developing and want to recruit someone to work with them as an Education Welfare Officer in a full time ongoing capacity. This is a role that the school hope will become permanent once approved by by the authority, so is a great opportunity for someone to make a good impression in this role.
Your specific role will be to work closely with the Attendance support team to actively monitor pupil attendance and welfare. You will be a positive and proactive individual with prior experience of working with young people / families.
Experience of additional areas such as pupil welfare or attendance would be an advantage, but full training will be given and this isn’t essential.
Main Roles/Responsibilities:
● To work with the Attendance team and pastoral team to monitor and support pupil attendance
● To drive to pupil’s homes who are exhibiting attendance issues; find out why they aren’t attending and to bring them to school if they can attend.
● To monitor, track and report the punctuality of all students
● To contact parents/carers or wider stakeholders as directed
● To deal with difficult or challenging parents/carers, de-escalating and ensuring that the
school’s polices are followed at all times
