Monarch Education is seeking a qualified English Teacher to join a dynamic and supportive secondary school on a long term basis, for the rest of the academic year. This exciting opportunity is open to teachers whether you are highly experience or an ECT.

The successful candidate will have a clear focus on creating engaging, well-structured English lessons that meet the needs of all students. You will have the opportunity to work in a school committed to educational excellence, with a strong team and a supportive leadership structure.

Key Responsibilities of a English Teacher:

  1. Curriculum Development: Design and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with educational standards and student needs.
  2. Instruction: Teach reading, writing, literature, and language skills effectively, fostering critical thinking and comprehension.
  3. Assessment and Evaluation: Develop and administer assessments to evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback on assignments and exams.
  4. Differentiation: Adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate diverse learning styles, abilities, and interests.
  5. Literature Analysis: Introduce and facilitate discussions on a variety of literary works, encouraging analytical and interpretative skills.
  6. Skill Development: Teach grammar, vocabulary, and writing techniques to enhance students’ communication skills.
  7. Classroom Management: Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning, managing student behaviour effectively.
  8. Collaboration: Work with other educators, staff, and parents to support student learning and development.
  9. Professional Development: Stay current with educational trends, methodologies, and technology by participating in professional development opportunities.
  10. Support Students: Provide guidance and mentorship to students, assisting with academic and personal challenges as needed.
  11. Cultural Awareness: Promote an appreciation of diverse perspectives through literature and discussions, encouraging empathy and respect.
  12. Technology Integration: Utilise educational technology and resources to enhance learning experiences and engage students.
  • Qualifications:
    • A recognised teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent).
    • A degree in an English related field.
  • Experience:
    • Proven experience of teaching English at KS3, KS4, and KS5, with a strong understanding of the English curriculum.
    • Experience of using a variety of assessment methods and being able to adapt teaching to suit students’ individual learning styles.
    • Ability to use data to inform planning and improve student outcomes.
  • Skills and Attributes:
    • Strong classroom management and behaviour strategies.
    • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to engage students and foster a positive learning environment.
    • A passion for English and the ability to inspire students with a love for the subject.
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, sharing ideas and collaborating with colleagues to enhance teaching practices.
    • A proactive and flexible approach to problem-solving and adapting to the evolving needs of the school.
