Monarch Education is seeking an enthusiastic and committed QTS English Teacher for an immediate start at a secondary school based in Birmingham (B28). This is a full‑time, long‑term opportunity within a supportive and forward‑thinking English department, ideal for a passionate teacher looking to make an immediate impact.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging and purposeful English lessons across KS3 and KS4, supporting strong progress in English Language and Literature.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high‑quality English Language and Literature lessons that engage and challenge pupils
  • Assess and monitor student progress through classwork, homework, assessments, and constructive feedback
  • Develop and contribute to schemes of work that promote differentiation and stretch learners of all abilities
  • Create a positive, structured classroom environment that encourages discussion, creativity, and critical thinking
  • Use a variety of teaching approaches and digital resources to enhance learning and engagement
  • Contribute to departmental planning, curriculum development, and whole‑school initiatives
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues to support academic and pastoral development
  • Engage in CPD and professional development to continuously improve teaching practice

Skills and Qualifications

  • A relevant English degree or closely related subject
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
  • Experience teaching secondary English (ECTs are welcome to apply)
  • Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum and GCSE assessment requirements
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills
  • Ability to differentiate effectively to support a range of learning needs
  • Confidence using educational technology and creative teaching strategies
