English Tutor

Area: Stamford

Salary: £140-£180 p/day (pay varies depending on experience)

Hours of work: 8:30am – 4:30pm

Start date: Monday 3rd June 2024

A Social Emotional and Mental Health residential school are looking for a full time English Tutor to work with them. The school is difficult to access on public transport so a UK driving licence is preferred.

This role will be term time only and candidates must have relevant experience, for example in SEND or SEMH schools/with SEMH students and Qualified Teacher Status/Tutor experience.

Experience in an alternative provision, SEMH school or residential setting where challenging behaviours have been dealt with, is the type of professional working background the school are looking for.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
  • Be able to work on a full time basis until 24th July 2024
  • Have experience working in an alternative provision
  • Hold the relevant qualifications for a teaching position in schools
  • Be highly organised with excellent communication skills
  • Have a desire to work with, inspire and support children
  • Have excellent behaviour management skills
  • Be resilient and able to cope with challenging behaviours, both physical and verbal

Main Responsibilities:

  • Planning lessons and activities for whole class learning and group learning
  • Supporting SEND pupils with their work and engagement
  • Managing very difficult behaviours
  • Supporting and managing teaching assistants within the classroom
  • Working 1:1 with students
  • Collecting evidence of pupils work to support their assessment
  • Acting as a line manager for a TA within the connected provision
