ESOL Tutor

Locations: Kidderminster
Contract Type: Part-time / Sessional (Block delivery)
Hours: Typically 2-3 hours per week per group (daytime or early evening)
Programme Length: 6-week blocks (with potential for extension)

The Opportunity

Monarch Education is seeking experienced and compassionate ESOL Tutors to deliver community-based English language classes across the Kiddermister and Wyre Forest area.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support newly arrived residents, including asylum seekers and refugees, by developing their confidence, communication skills, and independence within the local community.

Classes will be held in accessible town-centre community venues and will focus on practical, everyday English, community integration, and functional language for daily life.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, inclusive ESOL sessions to adult learners from a range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds
  • Adapt lesson content to suit mixed-ability and mixed-literacy community groups
  • Support learners with practical English for daily activities, accessing services, and local orientation
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and trauma-informed learning environment
  • Track learner progress informally and adapt delivery accordingly
  • Work collaboratively with Monarch Education and local partners to ensure high-quality provision

Essential Requirements

  • Recognised ESOL qualification (CELTA, TESOL, TEFL, ESOL Level 5 or equivalent)
  • Proven experience teaching ESOL / EAL / TEFL to adults or community groups
  • Strong understanding of working with vulnerable learners, including refugees or newly arrived residents
  • Excellent communication skills, patience, and cultural sensitivity
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Reliability, flexibility, and professionalism

Desirable Experience

  • Community-based or outreach ESOL delivery
  • Working with asylum seekers, refugees, or displaced communities
  • Delivering functional English, employability ESOL, or integration-focused learning
