About the Role
As a Full-Time English Teacher, you will deliver well-planned, engaging lessons to KS3 and KS4 students. You will bring strong subject knowledge, a passion for literature and language, and the ability to create purposeful, stimulating lessons. You’ll help learners develop analytical thinking, secure writing skills, effective communication, and a genuine appreciation for English as a subject. Establishing routines, building positive relationships, and inspiring confidence will be central to your classroom practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons aligned with KS3 and KS4 curriculum standards
- Support students in developing strong reading, writing, analytical, and communication skills
- Work collaboratively within the department, following school policies and curriculum plans
- Maintain a calm, structured, and engaging classroom environment
- Promote creativity, curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of reading
- Provide targeted support for students needing help with confidence, behaviour, or understanding
- Contribute positively to the school’s inclusive, community-driven ethos
- Encourage high standards in independent reading, extended writing, and oral communication
What We’re Looking For
- QTS and experience teaching English at secondary level
- Strong classroom management and excellent communication skills
- Ability to motivate, stretch, and support learners of varying abilities
- A positive, enthusiastic, and proactive approach to teaching
- Genuine passion for English and supporting young people’s academic development
- Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and the school’s values
- Secondary teaching experience preferred – ECTs warmly welcomed
