Are you a passionate Geography Teacher looking to inspire the next generation of geographers in a Manchester secondary school?

Monarch Education is recruiting an enthusiastic and dedicated Geography Teacher to join a welcoming secondary school in Manchester. You’ll work alongside a supportive team of teachers and school leaders to deliver engaging Geography lessons that motivate students and help them achieve their full academic potential.

You’ll play a key role in planning and delivering high-quality lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and potentially Key Stage 5, helping students develop a strong understanding of both physical and human geography. Using creative and interactive teaching methods, you’ll inspire students to explore topics such as climate change, global development, population, ecosystems, natural hazards, and sustainability, while encouraging them to think critically about the world around them.

The successful candidate will create a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel encouraged to participate, challenge themselves, and develop confidence in their abilities. You’ll assess and monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback, and adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of learners of varying abilities.

Working closely with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community, you’ll contribute to raising standards of achievement and fostering a culture of curiosity, ambition, and success within the Geography department.

The Role

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Geography lessons that inspire students to achieve their full potential and develop a strong understanding of geographical concepts, processes, and issues.
• Teach students across Key Stages 3 and 4, covering topics such as physical geography, human geography, climate change, ecosystems, population, urbanisation, natural hazards, sustainability, and global development.
• Differentiate lesson content and learning activities to meet the needs of learners of varying abilities, ensuring all students can access the curriculum and make meaningful progress.
• Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment that promotes engagement, confidence, independence, curiosity, and a passion for learning about the world around them.
• Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing constructive feedback and implementing targeted interventions to support achievement and raise attainment.
• Encourage students to develop critical thinking, analytical, map-reading, fieldwork, and enquiry skills, helping them apply their geographical knowledge to real-world contexts.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, pastoral teams, parents, and school leaders to support student wellbeing, contribute to departmental development, and help drive positive educational outcomes across the school.
• Contribute to the wider life of the school through enrichment activities, educational visits, fieldwork opportunities, and extracurricular programmes that enhance students’ geographical understanding and experiences.

Essential Requirements
* Experience supporting pupils with SEND, e.g. autism, SEMH, physical or sensory needs
* Relevant training (e.g. Team Teach, Makaton, ASD awareness) desirable
* Patience, resilience and a calm, nurturing approach
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
* Right to work in the UK
