Head of Year – Secondary School | Birmingham

Are you a passionate pastoral leader committed to nurturing young people and inspiring tomorrow’s leaders? We are recruiting on behalf of a high-performing secondary school in Birmingham, part of a nationally respected multi-academy trust, for a Head of Year to join their dedicated team.

📌 Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the pastoral care of a designated year group, supporting students to overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.
• Drive improvements in attendance, punctuality, and behaviour, ensuring high standards across the year group.
• Provide targeted interventions and support for students and families, working closely with internal teams and external agencies.
• Oversee the morning registration and tutorial programme, ensuring quality delivery and consistency.
• Promote student leadership, voice, and community cohesion through enrichment activities and faith-based character development.
• Supervise detentions, monitor behaviour, and maintain detailed records using school systems.
• Support lesson cover, supervision, and intervention sessions for up to 12 periods per week.

👤 Ideal Candidate:

• Experienced in pastoral leadership or middle management.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding, behaviour management, and student support strategies.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
