A school Monarch Education are working with are seeking a dedicated and skilled Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their dynamic team at our secondary school located in South Birmingham, B32. This role is to start from September and be a long term, ongoing post.

Job Overview:

As a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), you will play a crucial role in supporting teaching staff and ensuring that students receive a high-quality learning experience. You will assist in delivering engaging and effective lessons, working closely with students in both small groups and on an individual basis. The role will also involve covering classes during teacher absence and supporting students with special educational needs or additional learning requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teachers in planning and delivering lessons, ensuring learning objectives are met.
  • Provide individualised support to students who may require extra help or have specific learning needs.
  • Lead small group activities and intervention sessions to reinforce learning concepts.
  • Cover classes in the absence of teachers and maintain an orderly and positive classroom environment.
  • Contribute to the development of lesson plans and learning resources.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement and academic growth.
  • Collaborate with other staff members and take an active role in school events and activities.

Requirements:

  • Hold a relevant HLTA qualification or have significant experience working as a Teaching Assistant.
  • Possess a genuine passion for education and a desire to make a positive impact on students’ lives.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff alike.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to work in various classroom settings and support different subject areas.
  • Empathy and understanding for students with diverse learning needs and backgrounds.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to a positive school culture.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working in a secondary school environment.
  • Knowledge of the national curriculum and educational standards.
  • Additional qualifications or training related to education or child development.
  • Familiarity with behaviour management techniques and strategies.
  • Experience in leading extracurricular activities or initiatives.
