Monarch Education is recruiting on behalf of a supportive and forward‑thinking secondary school in Northfield that is seeking a committed History Teacher with a genuine passion for the subject. This full-time role requires a teacher who can bring History to life for students across Key Stages 3 and 4.

The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering a rich and engaging History curriculum that promotes critical thinking, curiosity, and a strong understanding of the past. Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering high‑quality lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Teaching a range of historical topics, including British, European, and World History
  • Preparing students for GCSE History assessments, including exam skills and controlled assessments
  • Developing resources that encourage enquiry-based learning
  • Creating inclusive lessons that support all learners, including SEND and EAL pupils
  • Using a variety of teaching strategies to engage students and encourage a love for History
  • Assessing, marking, and tracking pupil progress to identify areas for improvement
  • Participating in department meetings, curriculum development, and whole‑school initiatives

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)essential
  • Strong subject knowledge in History
  • Experience teaching History at KS3 and KS4 (KS5 experience is advantageous but not required)
  • Ability to deliver well‑structured lessons that build historical skills such as analysis, evaluation, and interpretation
  • Excellent classroom management skills
  • A reflective practitioner committed to continuous improvement
  • A teacher who can inspire students to engage with the past and understand its relevance today
