Humanities Teacher Required – North Birmingham – September Start

Job Type: Full-time, Temporary (Maternity Cover)
Salary: £165-£262 per day (dependent on experience)

Monarch Education is working in partnership with a highly regarded and oversubscribed secondary school in North Birmingham who are seeking a Humanities Teacher to join their team from September, covering a period of maternity leave.

The school is part of a successful and well-established local academy trust and has an excellent reputation for high standards, strong outcomes, and positive relationships. It is a large, modern secondary school with a calm and purposeful learning environment, where aspirations are high for both students and staff. Student behaviour is well managed, and there is a strong focus on respect, inclusion, and academic excellence.

The successful candidate will be joining a well-resourced and supportive Humanities department, teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4 (subjects may include History, Geography, and/or Religious Studies depending on specialism). The department works collaboratively and benefits from strong leadership, shared planning, and a commitment to high-quality teaching and learning.

This role would suit an experienced teacher or a confident ECT looking to gain experience in a high-performing school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and effective Humanities lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Plan, adapt, and sequence lessons in line with curriculum expectations
  • Assess, monitor, and track pupil progress using school systems
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment with high expectations
  • Contribute to departmental planning, moderation, and shared resources
  • Uphold the school’s behaviour, safeguarding, and pastoral policies

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience teaching Humanities at KS3 and KS4
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for Humanities
  • Effective classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Ability to build positive, respectful relationships with pupils and colleagues
  • Commitment to the wider life and values of the school
