Learning Support Assistant – Alternative Provision

Monarch Education are working with an Alternative Provision that supports young people who thrive through practical, hands-on learning. The provision offers vocational pathways.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will support pupils with SEMH, behavioural needs and additional learning needs, helping them engage in vocational activities, develop confidence and achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support learners during practical construction sessions.
- Promote engagement, attendance and positive behaviour.
- Build strong relationships with pupils who may have experienced barriers to education.
- Work alongside tutors and vocational instructors.
- Encourage the development of employability and life skills.
Essential Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND, SEMH or behavioural needs.
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
- A patient, resilient and nurturing approach.
- Ability to lead learning activities confidently and independently.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families and staff.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within a specialist school, alternative provision or SEND setting.
- Knowledge of SEMH, autism, communication difficulties or learning needs.
- Experience delivering interventions and measuring pupil progress.
- Team Teach or other positive behaviour management training.
- Experience supporting pupils with complex additional needs.
