Are you an inspiring and skilled Product Design teacher looking for a long-term role within a supportive and forward-thinking school? We are recruiting a Long-Term Product Design Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Bristol, delivering high-quality lessons across KS3 and KS4. This role focuses primarily on Product Design, but experience across other Design Technology disciplines-such as Resistant Materials, Engineering, or Textiles-is an advantage.

About the Role
As the school’s Long-Term Product Design Teacher, you will deliver engaging, practical lessons that develop students’ skills in design, modelling, manufacturing, and evaluation. You will confidently manage workshop spaces, establish clear routines, and foster an environment where students feel safe, creative, and motivated. Your teaching will support the school’s aim to offer a broad, balanced, and inspiring DT curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality Product Design lessons to KS3 and KS4 students
- Develop students’ skills in designing, prototyping, workshop safety, and problem-solving
- Plan and deliver lessons aligned with curriculum objectives and departmental schemes
- Maintain an organised, safe, and well-managed workshop or classroom environment
- Encourage creativity, innovation, resilience, and independent thinking
- Support students who need help with focus, behaviour, confidence, or technical skills
- Contribute positively to the school’s inclusive, community-centred ethos
- Promote enthusiasm for design, engineering principles, and practical learning
What We’re Looking For
- QTS or relevant Secondary DT/Product Design teaching experience
- Confident classroom and workshop management skills
- Ability to engage, challenge, and support students of varying abilities
- A positive, adaptable, and proactive attitude
- Strong passion for Product Design and developing students’ practical and creative skills
- Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and the school’s values
- Experience in secondary settings preferred; ECTs are warmly encouraged to apply
