Outreach Support Worker – Immediate Start
Location: Bristol
Contract: Urgent requirement | Full-time or Part-time (Mon-Wed)
Driving: Applicants must drive and have – or be willing to obtain – business insurance
Salary: Competitive (depending on experience)
We are urgently recruiting a dedicated and proactive Outreach Support Worker to support a young person in the Bristol area. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being active, building positive relationships, and supporting young people with a variety of additional needs.
This school is dedicated to building a nurturing and inclusive environment where every young person feels recognised, supported, and valued. Its commitment to personalised learning-shaping each student’s pathway around their strengths, interests, and individual needs-ensures that those who may have struggled in mainstream education are given real opportunities to thrive. The trauma‑informed ethos creates a calm, relationship‑focused community where students are encouraged to rebuild confidence, re‑engage with learning, and access the rich cultural, creative, and therapeutic resources offered across the city.
In this role, you’ll be supporting a sporty young girl who enjoys football and outdoor activities, making it ideal for someone active, patient, and confident leading engaging sessions. She has SEN, SEMH, and PDA needs, so experience in these areas-or a genuine willingness to learn-is essential for providing the consistent, compassionate support she deserves.
Why This Role?
- Opportunity to make a direct, positive impact on a young person’s daily life
* Highly rewarding, hands‑on support in community settings
* Flexible working pattern: full‑time or 3 days a week (Mon-Wed)
* Supportive recruitment process with ongoing guidance
* Active, engaging work with variety day‑to‑day
About the Role
As an Outreach Support Worker, you will provide one‑to‑one support within the community, helping the young person access activities, build confidence, and develop emotional regulation strategies. You will plan and deliver active, interest‑led sessions-such as football, walking, or other outdoor activities-while maintaining a safe, structured, and empowering environment. You will also be required to transport the young person to and from school each day, ensuring their journeys are safe, reliable, and supportive. In addition, you’ll help her build positive routines, manage challenges associated with PDA and SEMH, and develop greater independence and overall wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 outreach support in community‑based settings
* Transport the young person safely to and from school
* Engage her in sports, physical activities, and interest‑led sessions
* Build trust, rapport, and positive daily structure
* Support emotional regulation and behaviour using patient, consistent approaches
* Promote independence, confidence, and positive social interactions
* Ensure safe practice throughout all activities and travel
* Maintain clear, professional communication with the wider support team
What We’re Looking For
- Experience supporting children or young people (SEN/SEMH/PDA experience highly beneficial)
* A calm, patient, and resilient approach when managing challenging behaviours
* Confidence engaging in physical and outdoor activities
* Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
* A proactive, reliable, and compassionate attitude
* Must be a driver with business insurance (or willing to obtain it promptly)
