Are you an experienced Pastoral Leader with a strong commitment to student wellbeing and safeguarding? Monarch Education is partnering with a large, dynamic secondary school in Central Birmingham to recruit a dedicated Pastoral Leader and DSL to lead student support and safeguarding efforts across the school.

About the Role:
As a Pastoral Leader and DSL, you will be responsible for overseeing the pastoral care and well-being of students, ensuring a safe, supportive, and inclusive school environment. Working closely with staff, students, and families, you will develop strategies to promote positive behaviour, attendance, and mental health while maintaining robust safeguarding protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading the school’s pastoral programme to support students’ emotional, social, and behavioural development.
  • Acting as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), managing safeguarding concerns, and ensuring compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Providing support and guidance to students facing personal, social, or behavioural challenges.
  • Developing and implementing intervention strategies to improve attendance, behaviour, and student engagement.
  • Building positive relationships with students, staff, and parents to promote a safe and nurturing school community.
  • Leading and supporting a team of pastoral staff and mentors.
  • Ensuring staff are trained and up-to-date with safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Monitoring and reviewing student progress and well-being, and liaising with external agencies as needed.
