Residential Teacher

Locations: Stamford

Pay: £120 – £180 p/day

Start date: As soon as possible

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:45am – 4:30pm

A Social Emotional and Mental Health residential school are looking for full time and long term Teaching to work with them. The school is difficult to access on public transport so a UK driving licence is preferred.

This role will be term time only and candidates must have relevant experience, for example in SEND or SEMH schools/with SEMH students.

Experience in an alternative provision, SEMH school or residential setting where challenging behaviours have been dealt with, is the type of professional working background the school are looking for.

The candidate needs to…

  • Have UK based Teaching experience or references commenting on their experience as an Unqualified Teacher if looking for supply
  • Have Qualified Teacher Status (essential requirement)
  • Be highly organised with excellent communication skills
  • Have a desire to work with, inspire and support children
  • Have excellent behaviour management skills
  • Have experience with children or young adults (essential)
  • Be able to work with and support SEMH pupils
  • Have a professional manner
  • Be friendly and highly resilient
  • Be able to provide relevant references to comment on the relevant skills for this role
  • Have excellent behaviour management skills, or be willing to learn
  • Support young adults who may require 1:1 support
  • Be able to plan lessons thoroughly or follow other plans created by Teachers
  • Lead a class of 20-30 children
  • Work on a casual basis

Main Responsibilities:

  • Planning lessons and activities for whole class learning and group learning
  • Covering sickness
  • Supporting SEND children with their work and working 1:1 with these pupils
  • Managing/directing a TA within the classroom
  • Managing difficult behaviours
  • Taking the register
  • Supervising on lunch and break times
  • Supporting and managing teaching assistants within the classroom
  • Building relationships with staff and pupils
  • Collecting evidence of children’s work to support their assessments
  • Feedback to the relevant member of staff about the children’s progress
