Monarch Education is recruiting on behalf of a small, welcoming countryside secondary school in South Warwickshire for a Qualified Science Teacher. This is a full-time, long-term position required to start as soon as possible (ASAP).

The successful candidate will be a passionate and dedicated Science Teacher with the ability to inspire students and deliver engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. While a specialism in Physics, Chemistry, or Biology is welcome, the ability to teach general Science to GCSE level is essential.

Due to the school’s rural location and limited public transport options, applicants must have their own transport to be considered for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and Learning:
    • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality and engaging Science lessons for students in Key Stages 3 and 4.
    • Differentiate teaching and learning activities to meet the diverse needs of students, ensuring all learners can access the curriculum and make progress.
    • Foster scientific curiosity and critical thinking skills in students through stimulating and interactive teaching methods.
    • Safely and effectively incorporate practical experiments and demonstrations into lessons.
  • Classroom Management:
    • Establish and maintain a positive, supportive, and productive learning environment through effective classroom management and behaviour strategies.
    • Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times, especially during practical activities, adhering to school health and safety guidelines.
  • Assessment and Feedback:
    • Regularly assess student progress using a variety of appropriate methods.
    • Provide timely, constructive, and specific feedback to students to support their learning and development.
    • Utilise assessment data to inform future planning and interventions.
  • Curriculum Contribution:
    • Contribute to the development and delivery of the Science curriculum for Key Stages 3 and 4.
    • Prepare and support students effectively for GCSE Science examinations.
  • Student Support and Welfare:
    • Provide appropriate pastoral care and support to students, fostering their academic, emotional, and social development.
    • Build positive and respectful relationships with students.
  • Collaboration and Professional Growth:
    • Work collaboratively with colleagues within the Science department and the wider school team.
    • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance teaching practice.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Qualifications:
    • A recognised teaching qualification (Qualified Teacher Status – QTS or equivalent).
    • A degree in a Science-related field.
  • Experience:
    • Proven experience teaching Science effectively at Key Stages 3 and 4.
    • Experience in planning and delivering lessons that cater to a range of abilities.
    • Experience of using assessment data to inform teaching.
  • Skills and Attributes:
    • Excellent classroom management and behaviour strategies.
    • Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
    • A genuine passion for Science and the ability to inspire students.
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a smaller school setting.
    • A proactive, adaptable, and flexible approach.
