SEMH (social, emotional mental health) Teaching Assistant

Monarch Education are working in partnership with an outstanding mainstream primary school in Openshaw,who are looking to employ an SEMH and Behaviour support assistant for their provision unit. The school is a large, welcoming school with children who are full of love, curiosity and determination.

The school has excellent provision, with an abundance of resources to help you and the children in your care. It is located in M18, and had on-site parking and easily accessible public transport links.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Foster a safe and supportive classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop effective strategies for students.
  • Monitor and track student progress, adjusting support strategies as needed.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to help students develop social and emotional skills

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to promoting an inclusive and positive learning environment.
