SEMH Teaching Assistant required for Dynamic Secondary School in Oldham

The Role:
As a Teaching Assistant specialising in SEMH and behaviour, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with significant challenges. Your expertise and dedication will help them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. This role could lead to a permanent position based on your performance and the needs of the school.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide targeted support to students with SEMH needs and behavioural challenges, helping them to develop coping strategies and positive behaviours.
* Work closely with teachers, the SENCO, and pastoral staff to implement effective interventions and support plans.
* Lead small group sessions and one-on-one support to address individual student needs.
* Assist in managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a safe and conducive learning environment.
* Develop and adapt resources to meet the unique needs of students with SEMH and behavioural difficulties.
* Foster strong, trusting relationships with students, promoting their engagement and participation in school activities.
* Collaborate with parents, teachers, and external agencies to provide comprehensive support and ensure consistent progress.
* Monitor and record student progress, providing detailed feedback to the SENCO and other staff members.
Requirements:
* Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, particularly in a secondary school setting
* Strong understanding of SEMH needs and effective behaviour management strategies.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Confidence and resilience in managing challenging situations and behaviours.
* Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
* Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
