Are you passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of young people with special educational needs? A secondary school in the Oldham area is looking for a committed SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work closely with a student who requires additional support. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to help students overcome challenges and reach their full potential in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student with special educational needs, assisting them with their academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Collaborate with class teachers and the SENCO to implement and adapt individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Modify learning materials and tasks to meet the student’s specific needs and learning style.
  • Encourage the student’s participation in classroom activities, promoting confidence and independence.
  • Support the student in managing behaviour, building social skills, and developing positive coping strategies.
  • Work with other staff members and parents to ensure consistent support for the student and monitor their progress.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Dyslexia, or other learning difficulties in a secondary school setting.
  • A positive, patient, and compassionate approach to supporting students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with the student, staff, and parents.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) are preferred but not essential.
