SEN Teaching Assistant – Bury

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Bury, working in exclusive partnership with Monarch Education. This full-time role involves supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and/or ADHD within the classroom and through tailored 1:1 support.

You do not need to be a qualified Teaching Assistant or have previous school-based experience to apply. We welcome applications from candidates with experience of supporting individuals with autism and/or ADHD in other settings such as care, youth work, residential support, mental health services, or community roles.

Hours are 8.30am-3.30pm, Monday to Friday, term-time only.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism and/or ADHD
  • Help pupils to engage positively with their learning and manage challenges
  • Support the development of social, emotional and communication skills
  • Implement behaviour support strategies and use de-escalation techniques when required
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider staff team
  • Encourage independence, confidence and resilience in pupils
  • Promote an inclusive and nurturing learning environment

Requirements:

  • Experience of supporting individuals with autism and/or ADHD in any capacity
  • A patient, empathetic and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to different situations
  • A genuine passion for helping children thrive
