Monarch Education are seeking experienced and qualified SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a cluster of Secondary schools in the Birmingham and surrounding area.

We are extremely busy with requests from our schools with the flexibility of working around your commitments as we offer part-time and full-time hours to suit as well as short-term and long-term assignments.

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Provide individualised support to students with special educational needs
  • Assist the classroom teacher in creating an inclusive learning environment
  • Supervise and assist students in the classroom as well as on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Share an understanding of the importance of a child-centred approach to teaching
  • Develop and promote positive relationships with children, adults, and other practitioners
  • Support in the preparation of learning materials and resources
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and ensure a positive, respectful learning environment

The role advertised is for temporary supply work.

To be successful for this role, you must:

  • Have previous experience as a Teaching Assistant in SEN schools
  • Hold a level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning, Health and Social Care qualification or related field
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Previous experience supporting students with a broad range of complex needs including Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs and autism.
  • Hold an enhanced child workforce DBS check on the update service or be willing to undertake a new one.
  • Have up-to-date safeguarding training; we offer FREE online Safeguarding training
  • Provide a full 10-year career history and references to cover the last 2 years including current and previous employers.
