A school in Nottingham is seeking a SEND Specialist Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full‑time basis. This role involves providing targeted support to pupils with a range of special educational needs and assisting them in fully accessing learning throughout the school day.

The successful candidate will work with pupils who present with a variety of SEND needs, which may include autism, SEMH, ADHD, communication difficulties, sensory needs, and general learning delays. The role requires a consistent, structured approach and the ability to support both learning and emotional regulation

  • Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with identified SEND needs
  • Implement strategies recommended by teaching staff, the SENCO, and external professionals
  • Support pupils using visual aids, structured routines, sensory strategies, and communication approaches
  • Adapt learning materials and support pupils in understanding tasks and maintaining focus
  • Assist with the delivery of EHCP targets, intervention plans, and personalised programmes

Pupil Wellbeing and Behaviour Support

  • Provide calm, supportive engagement for pupils who require emotional or behavioural guidance
  • Assist pupils in regulating emotions and returning to learning after challenging moments
  • Support pupils during transitions and less structured parts of the day, such as break and lunchtime
  • Build positive, trusted relationships to promote pupil engagement and confidence
