SENCO Assistant – Handsworth, Birmingham

Are you experienced in supporting children with SEND and looking for a part-time role in a school setting? We are currently working with a Primary School in the Handsworth area of Birmingham to recruit a SENCO Assistant for any 2 days per week (excluding Tuesdays). This role involves supporting the SENCO with administrative tasks, pupil observations, and liaising with staff and external professionals.

To be considered, you must have SEND experience and ideally have worked alongside a SENCO in a previous role.

Requirements of Applicant:

  • Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Ideally previous experience working with or assisting a SENCO
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Understanding of EHCPs, referrals, and SEND documentation

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the SENCO with pupil observations and progress tracking
  • Assist in preparing and updating SEND documentation and provision maps
  • Liaise with teaching staff, support staff, and external agencies
  • Help coordinate interventions and monitor their impact
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to review meetings
  • Promote inclusive practice and support staff with SEND strategies
  • Provide occasional in-class support for pupils with additional needs

Salary: £80 – £110 per day (Reviewed after 12 weeks placement*)
