Our warm and community-focused primary school in Hartcliffe is seeking a committed and compassionate 1:1 Behaviour Support Assistant to join our team from 23rd February.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers, build confidence, and engage positively with their learning. You will play a key role in supporting a child with social, emotional, and behavioural needs, ensuring they feel safe, understood, and ready to learn each day.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENCo and pastoral team to provide consistent, structured, and nurturing support to a child who requires 1:1 behaviour assistance throughout the school day. Your role will be essential in helping the pupil develop regulation skills, build positive relationships, and access the curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 targeted behaviour support throughout lessons and school routines
• Use positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques
• Build a trusting, supportive and encouraging relationship with the pupil
• Support the child’s emotional regulation and social development
• Encourage participation and engagement during learning activities
• Assist the teacher with implementing personalised plans
• Record observations and contribute to behaviour and progress reviews
• Support transitions, break times and other key moments during the day
• Maintain a calm, safe and inclusive environment

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

• Is calm, patient and emotionally resilient
• Has experience supporting children with behavioural or SEMH needs (preferred but training can be provided)
• Can form positive, supportive relationships with children
• Has strong communication and teamwork skills
• Shows initiative, reliability and a caring approach
• Is committed to supporting the wellbeing and progress of all pupils
