SEND PE Coach

Location: Birmingham

Salary £83.33 – £250 a day

Contract: Part time, Full-time, with the option to go permanent

Requirements to apply:

  • Must have a qualification relevant to PE or Sports.
  • A valid DBS certificate on the update service or willingness to obtain one through Monarch Education.
  • Availability to work full-time (Monday to Friday) during term time only.
  • Experience working in a school or education-based setting preferred but not essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understanding the individual needs and abilities of each student with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Developing and implementing appropriate sports and physical activities that cater to the specific needs of students with SEND.
  • Collaborating with other educators, parents, and support staff to create inclusive and accessible physical education programs.
  • Providing ongoing support, feedback, and encouragement to students with SEND to help them improve their physical skills and confidence.

The following skills would be advantageous:

  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students with various disabilities and their support network.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to modify sports activities and coaching techniques to meet the diverse needs of students with SEND.
  • Empathy and patience to provide a supportive and understanding environment for students with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of different disabilities, inclusive coaching practices, and strategies to promote participation and success for students with SEND in sports.
