Monarch Education are working with a Special Needs School in Wheatley, who are looking for a full time SEND Teacher to join their team in September 2024. This school caters for children from 4-19 years old with a range of needs, from ASD to Physical Disabilities.

The school enable pupils with a wide range of needs to access the curriculum, develop their self esteem and realise their potential. The school follow a values-based curriculum and are seeking a Teacher to join their team who will tailor the curriculum to the needs of their pupils and support them with academic and social growth.

You will be responsible for delivering and coordinating the daily teaching, planning, assessment and pastoral care for pupils within your class, as well as some of the below responsibilities.

  • To provide quality teaching and learning provision so that all pupils make progress in line with their goals
  • To consider pupils’ prior attainment, learning styles and needs and use them to set appropriately challenging targets
  • To impart knowledge and develop understanding through effective use of lesson time
  • To manage pupil behaviour using nurturing and restorative practices
  • To use teaching methods that target areas of difficulty and adapt as needs change
  • To differentiate lessons to give opportunities for all pupils to progress

The successful teacher must have a passion for working with pupils with SEND and have a dedication to helping pupils achieve their best.

Qualifications, Training and Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Successful experience of teaching pupils with a range of SEND (particularly ASD and Physical Needs)

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the National Curriculum
  • Ability to adapt teaching to meet children’s needs
  • Knowledge of inclusive practice
  • Knowledge of planning, assessing, monitoring and evaluation
  • Knowledge of SEND Code of Practice
