As a Teaching Assistant focused on supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), you play a vital role in transforming children’s lives every day.

Are you passionate about making a rewarding difference and helping children with SEN reach their full potential? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join a large primary school in Middleton, where you will provide 1:1 support for an EYFS pupil with a diagnosis of Autism. Experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in either a professional or personal capacity is essential for this role.

This is a full-time, school-based position, with working hours from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Knowledge and/or experience of working with or supporting children with any form of Special Educational Need (SEN), particularly Autism, would be beneficial.
  • Previous experience working with children is desirable, but not essential. Your attitude, desire to help, and transferable skills are just as important.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding practices and a commitment to promoting the safety and well-being of children.
  • Experience in encouraging positive behaviour using agreed behaviour management strategies.
  • A caring and nurturing approach to supporting pupils, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.

Who This Role Would Suit:

  • A qualified Teaching Assistant with knowledge of SEN or experience supporting challenging behaviour.
  • Individuals with a background in Residential Support, Social Work, Mental Health Support, or similar transferable skills.
  • Graduates in Psychology, Counselling, Psychotherapy, or related Mental Health fields.
  • Individuals with personal or professional experience supporting children, young people, or adults with additional needs.
