Monarch Education are working with a specialist SEND provision in the Mansfield area, supporting children and young people aged 5-19 with a range of additional needs.
Pupils may have Autism (ASC), speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) and associated learning or developmental needs. The school provides a supportive and structured environment, helping pupils develop their communication, independence, confidence and engagement with learning.
About the Role
Monarch Education is recruiting a patient, caring and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils across the school.
You will provide 1:1, small group and classroom support, adapting your approach to meet individual needs. A key part of the role will be supporting pupils with their communication and interaction, including children and young people who may have limited verbal communication.
This role would suit someone who is patient, nurturing and confident building positive relationships with pupils with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1, small group and classroom support.
- Support pupils with Autism and speech, language and communication needs.
- Encourage communication, interaction and engagement.
- Support pupils with learning and classroom activities.
- Help children and young people develop their confidence and independence.
- Adapt communication approaches to individual pupils.
- Support pupils with social and emotional development.
- Work closely with teachers and other SEND professionals.
- Follow individual education, communication and support plans.
- Maintain a safe, positive and supportive learning environment.
Essential Requirements
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
- A patient, caring and understanding approach.
- Confidence supporting pupils with communication difficulties.
- Ability to build positive and appropriate relationships.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within a specialist SEND school or provision.
- Experience supporting pupils with Autism (ASC).
- Experience supporting speech, language and communication needs (SLCN).
- Experience working with children or young people aged 5-19.
- Knowledge of alternative communication approaches such as PECS, Makaton or visual communication strategies.
- Previous care, support work or SEND experience.
