A vibrant and inclusive special school in Wolverhampton seeks a meticulous and proactive SIMS Administrator to join our dedicated team. This is a crucial role, contributing to the smooth and efficient management of our school’s data and information systems, directly impacting on the support we provide to our students with moderate and complex learning difficulties.

As the SIMS Administrator, you will be the cornerstone of the school’s data management, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. You will play a vital role in supporting staff and students, contributing to a secure and happy learning environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

SIMS Management:

  • Maintain and develop the SIMS network, ensuring accurate and timely data entry for student and staff records.
  • Manage and administer the wide range of data held within SIMS, providing efficient data processing and analysis.
  • Ensure student and staff photographs are accurately maintained within SIMS.
  • Assist with the timetable management, including updates to student and staff timetables, Course Manager, and the Options Module.
  • Support the management of the cover system within SIMS.
  • Assist with termly statutory returns and the administration of Classroom Manager.
  • Produce reports and assessment reporting as required.
  • Train staff on the effective use of the SIMS network.
  • Prepare SIMS for student assessment data input, particularly managing the Academic Monitoring System.
  • Assist the Examinations Officer with examination entries via SIMS.
  • Support the introduction and management of Lesson Monitor.

General Administrative & IT Support:

  • Provide reception support, welcoming visitors and managing parent queries.
  • Handle telephone calls and emails, ensuring effective communication.
  • Coordinate visitor management, ensuring proper sign-in procedures.
  • Assist with general administrative tasks, including filing, photocopying, and distributing information.
  • Provide generic ICT support to staff and students as required.
  • Work autonomously, striving for a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Participate in annual performance reviews and identify development needs.
  • Undertake any other reasonable tasks as requested by the Leadership Team.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has essential experience working within a school environment.
  • Possesses a strong understanding and practical experience of using SIMS.
  • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Is proficient in standard computing software, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Has a proven ability to manage confidential data appropriately.
  • Can work independently and as part of a team.
  • Is flexible, adaptable, and able to work in a busy environment.
  • Has a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • An IT qualification is desirable.
  • Experience with school or similar examination processes are desirable.
