Teaching Assistant – SEND School

Monarch Education is currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in the DE24 area. The school supports pupils aged 11-16 with a range of special educational needs and provides a structured, nurturing environment where every student is encouraged to succeed.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in education, care, youth work, residential support, or childcare who is looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to help students access learning, build confidence, and develop essential life skills. Every day will be different, offering rewarding opportunities to support pupils both academically and emotionally.

You will:

  • Support students during lessons and classroom activities
  • Encourage participation and engagement in learning
  • Help pupils develop social, emotional, and communication skills
  • Promote positive behaviour and wellbeing
  • Provide individual and small-group support where required
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Contribute to creating a safe and inclusive learning environment

What We’re Looking For

We would love to hear from candidates who have:

  • Experience working with children or young people
  • A patient, caring, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine interest in supporting pupils with additional needs
  • An understanding of safeguarding responsibilities

Experience within SEND, care, residential support, youth work, or education is desirable but not essential.
