Pay:
£28-£32 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)
About the Role:
We’re looking for caring and enthusiastic tutors to work one-to-one with primary-aged children who have additional needs and are currently not attending school. These pupils may have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and may need support with conditions such as Autism, ADHD, or Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. Some pupils may have been excluded from their mainstream setting, and are awaiting a new placement.
You’ll be helping children learn English and Maths at a level that suits them – from early learning skills to Key Stage 1 and 2. Sessions take place during school hours and are delivered face-to-face in settings such as the child’s home, a library, or a school.
What You’ll Do:
* Teach English and Maths in a way that’s fun, engaging, and tailored to each child’s needs
* Support learning goals linked to the child’s EHCP
* Build trusting relationships to help children feel safe and confident
* Work closely with families, schools, and other professionals
* Keep track of progress and share updates
* Adapt your teaching style to suit each child’s way of learning
What You’ll Need:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS, or recent experience tutoring primary-aged children with SEND with concrete curriculum knowledge
* A valid Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce) on the Update Service
* Experience supporting children with Autism, ADHD, or SEMH
* A good understanding of EHCPs
* Great communication skills and a warm, patient approach
* Availability for at least 2 days per week during school hours
