Supply Cover Supervisor – Secondary Schools | March 2026 Start

Location: Bridgwater
Contract: Full-Time Supply (Monday-Friday)
Hours: 8:15am – 3:15pm
Salary: £110 – 130 per day (Depending on Experience)

Are you confident, adaptable, and looking for a flexible school-based role that supports a great work-life balance? We are seeking dedicated Supply Cover Supervisors to work across a range of secondary schools in the Bridgwater area. Whether you’re an experienced supervisor, a graduate considering teaching, or someone with strong communication skills and a passion for working with young people, we’d love to hear from you.

Working as a Cover Supervisor gives you the opportunity to support learning across different subjects, experience a variety of school settings, and enjoy the freedom of a varied weekly schedule-without the planning or marking responsibilities of a full teaching post. Many short-term placements lead to long-term or permanent opportunities, making this an excellent pathway for career development within education.

Secondary schools in Bridgwater offer supportive, inclusive, and forward-thinking learning environments. With strong pastoral systems, well-organised departments, and encouraging leadership teams, these schools are committed to helping both students and staff thrive. You’ll play an important part in maintaining positive routines, promoting engagement, and ensuring continuity of learning.

About the Role

As a Supply Cover Supervisor, you will deliver pre-prepared lessons to KS3 and KS4 students across a range of subjects. Your role is to manage the classroom, ensure students stay on task, and maintain a calm and purposeful learning environment. You don’t need to be a subject expert-the focus is on communication, behaviour management, and supporting students as they complete their work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise classes in the absence of the teacher, ensuring students remain focused and engaged
  • Deliver pre-set work and follow school policies and lesson guidance
  • Maintain a positive, organised, and supportive classroom atmosphere
  • Manage behaviour effectively and promote good learning routines
  • Assist students who may need additional encouragement or clarification
  • Build positive relationships with staff and students across the school
  • Uphold the school’s values, safeguarding principles, and expectations

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience working with young people (education, coaching, mentoring, youth work, or similar)
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Excellent communication and confidence when leading groups
  • A flexible, proactive, and positive approach to each day
  • Ability to engage learners of mixed abilities and backgrounds
  • A strong commitment to professionalism, safeguarding, and inclusion
  • Graduates, teaching assistants, tutors, and aspiring teachers are all welcome
