About the Role
As a Supply English Teacher, you will deliver engaging and well-structured lessons across KS3 and KS4. You’ll bring energy, adaptability, and strong subject knowledge, supporting students as they develop key skills in reading, writing, analysis, and communication. You will quickly establish positive routines, maintain a calm and purposeful classroom environment, and inspire students to enjoy English while building confidence in their abilities. Your role will contribute directly to the school’s commitment to high‑quality teaching and a values‑driven, aspirational curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach engaging and creative English lessons across KS3 and KS4
- Support the development of strong literacy, analytical, and communication skills
- Follow school policies, lesson plans, and schemes of work where provided
- Maintain a calm, structured, and inspiring learning atmosphere
- Encourage participation, curiosity, and a genuine love for English
- Provide additional support for students who may need help with focus, confidence, or behaviour
- Contribute positively to the school’s inclusive, community-centred ethos
- Promote high standards of communication and a positive attitude toward learning
What We’re Looking For
- QTS or relevant secondary English teaching experience
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to motivate, inspire, and support students across a range of abilities
- A positive, flexible, and proactive teaching approach
- Passion for English language, literature, and creative expression
- Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and the school’s core values
- Experience in secondary education preferred; ECTs also welcome
