About the Role
As a Supply English Teacher, you will deliver engaging, structured lessons across KS3 and KS4. You will bring strong knowledge of English language and literature, along with adaptability and a calm, professional presence in the classroom. Your teaching will help students build confidence in reading, writing, analysis, and communication. You will quickly establish positive routines, promote purposeful learning, and inspire students to enjoy English while taking pride in their progress. Your contribution will support the school’s commitment to high‑quality teaching and a broad, ambitious curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach engaging English lessons aligned with the KS3 and KS4 curriculum
- Support students in developing strong literacy, analytical, and writing skills
- Follow school policies, lesson plans, and departmental schemes of work
- Maintain a focused, positive, and well‑organised classroom environment
- Encourage creativity, critical thinking, and a strong enthusiasm for English
- Provide additional support to students who need help with confidence, reading, or behaviour
- Contribute to the school’s inclusive, community‑focused ethos
- Promote high standards in independent reading, writing, and communication
What We’re Looking For
- QTS or relevant secondary English teaching experience
- Strong classroom management and excellent communication skills
- Ability to motivate, challenge, and support students of varying abilities

- Genuine passion for English and helping young people succeed
- Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and the school’s values
- Experience in secondary settings preferred; ECTs are welcome
