Monarch Education is recruiting on behalf of a secondary school in North Coventry for a Teacher of Girls PE. This is a full-time, long-term position required to start as soon as possible (ASAP).
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and inspiring PE teacher with a passion for promoting physical activity and well-being among girls. You will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing engaging and inclusive PE lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teaching and Learning:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality and engaging Girls PE lessons for students across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
- Differentiate teaching and activities to meet the diverse needs and abilities of all students, fostering participation and enjoyment.
- Promote a positive attitude towards physical activity, health, and fitness.
- Teach a range of sports and physical activities relevant to the Girls PE curriculum at all key stages.
- Classroom and Activity Management:
- Establish and maintain a positive, supportive, and safe environment for physical activity.
- Implement effective behaviour management strategies during lessons and activities.
- Ensure the safe use of sports equipment and facilities, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
- Assessment and Feedback:
- Assess student progress in PE using appropriate methods.
- Provide constructive feedback to students to support their development and understanding of skills and concepts.
- Curriculum Contribution:
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of the Girls PE curriculum across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
- Support students in achieving relevant qualifications (e.g., GCSE PE, A-Level PE, BTEC Sport – if applicable).
- Student Support and Welfare:
- Provide appropriate support and encouragement to students, fostering their confidence and participation.
- Build positive relationships with students.
- Collaboration and Professional Growth:
- Work collaboratively with colleagues within the PE department and the wider school team.
- Engage in continuous professional development.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Qualifications:
- A recognised teaching qualification (Qualified Teacher Status – QTS or equivalent).
- A degree in Physical Education or a related field.
- Experience:
- Proven experience teaching PE to girls across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
- Experience in planning and delivering a diverse range of sports and physical activities suitable for all key stages.
- Experience in adapting activities to cater for different abilities.
- Skills and Attributes:
- Excellent teaching, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong behaviour management skills in a PE setting.
- A genuine passion for PE and the ability to inspire girls to participate.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A proactive and enthusiastic approach.
Personal Specification:
- A deep commitment to promoting physical activity and well-being among girls.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
- Enthusiastic, professional, and dedicated.
- Alignment with the school’s ethos.
- Willingness to contribute to extracurricular sports activities (e.g., coaching teams) for girls.
