A large and well-established two-form entry primary school located in the heart of Northampton is seeking to appoint a dedicated and professional Key Stage 2 Class Teacher to commence employment in September 2025. Job Description:
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching across Key Stage 2, with a focus on fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment. The role involves planning and delivering engaging lessons that meet the diverse needs of pupils, including those with SEND, and ensuring all pupils are supported to achieve their full potential. The teacher will manage classroom behaviour effectively, implement the school’s behaviour policy, and promote a culture of respect, collaboration, and enthusiasm for learning.

The role also includes supporting the development of pupils’ social and emotional well-being, maintaining accurate assessment records, and providing constructive feedback to colleagues. The teacher may have pastoral responsibilities for a group of pupils and may be asked to lead in a subject area or supervise during lunch and break times. Building strong relationships with staff, pupils, and parents is essential to ensure a cohesive team approach to education.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Delivering high-quality lessons across a range of subjects within the primary curriculum, tailored to meet the needs of all pupils.
  • Planning and preparing engaging lessons and activities that promote active learning and pupil participation.
  • Supporting pupils with SEND within the classroom, adapting teaching strategies to ensure inclusion and access to the curriculum.
  • Managing classroom behaviour effectively and consistently, implementing positive behaviour management strategies aligned with school policies.
  • Ensuring safeguarding procedures are rigorously followed to protect vulnerable pupils.
  • Supervising pupils during lunch and break times when required.
  • Supporting and managing teaching assistants within the classroom to enhance pupil learning.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents to foster a collaborative and supportive school community.
  • Collecting evidence of pupils’ work to support ongoing assessment and reporting.
  • Providing feedback on pupils’ progress to colleagues and contributing to the wider assessment and reporting processes.
  • Taking pastoral responsibility for a designated group of pupils, supporting their overall well-being and development.
  • Leading in a subject area or initiative, where appropriate, to contribute to school improvement.
  • Working collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure a cohesive approach to education.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS.
  • Proven ability and knowledge to teach primary school pupils effectively.
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent communication abilities.
  • A genuine desire to work with children from diverse backgrounds and with varying needs.
  • Exceptional behaviour management skills.
  • Sound understanding of the Teachers’ Standards and commitment to professional development.
