Primary School Teacher (Year 1) – Knowle

Location: Knowle, Solihull
Start Date: September 2025
Salary: Paid to scale (dependent on experience)

Contract: Maternity cover

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Year 1 teacher to join our welcoming primary school in Knowle from September 2025 until July 2026.

About the Role:
As a Year 1 teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and inclusive lessons to pupils in Year 1. Your role will involve creating stimulating lesson plans, assessing pupil progress, and fostering a classroom environment where each child feels valued, safe, and motivated to learn. You will work closely with colleagues to ensure high standards of teaching and learning and support the overall development of your pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and delivering creative, differentiated lessons across all subjects within the Year 1 curriculum, including both core and foundation areas
  • Monitoring and assessing pupils’ progress, providing constructive feedback, and maintaining accurate records
  • Supporting pupils with additional needs (SEND) to ensure they can access the curriculum and reach their full potential
  • Managing classroom behaviour effectively through positive strategies to create a respectful and safe learning environment
  • Building strong relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues to support the children’s social, emotional, and academic development
  • Upholding safeguarding policies to ensure the safety and well-being of all pupils at all times
  • Contributing to team planning and school improvement initiatives to enhance the quality of education

Candidate Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – applications without QTS will not be considered
  • Experience teaching in Key Stage 1 (KS1)
  • Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum and assessment practices
  • Excellent behaviour management skills and the ability to motivate and inspire pupils
  • A commitment to creating an inclusive, safe, and nurturing learning environment
  • Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork
