Essential Requirements:

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) is a must
  • Proven experience teaching Year 6 with good results
  • Strong understanding of the Year 6 curriculum and assessments
  • Excellent at managing behaviour and motivating pupils
  • Skilled in planning lessons that are engaging and suited to different learning needs
  • Committed to safeguarding and creating a safe, friendly environment
  • Good communicator and a team player

Role Overview & Key Responsibilities:

As a Year 6 Teacher, you will be key in preparing pupils for secondary school. Your main focus will be delivering inspiring lessons that encourage curiosity, independence, and achievement. You’ll support pupils’ social and emotional development, help them build confidence, and ensure they enjoy their final year of primary school.

Your main tasks will include:

  • Planning and delivering interesting, creative lessons across all Year 6 subjects, including core and creative areas
  • Monitoring pupils’ progress, giving helpful feedback, and keeping accurate records
  • Supporting pupils with special educational needs (SEND) so they can access the curriculum and reach their potential
  • Managing classroom behaviour effectively through positive strategies
  • Creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom where everyone feels valued
  • Building strong relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues
  • Following safeguarding policies at all times
  • Contributing to school-wide initiatives and team planning
