The Role

We are looking for a passionate and experienced KS2 Teaching Assistant who understands the National Curriculum and is committed to supporting children’s learning and development within Key Stage 2. Your role will be vital in helping pupils achieve their full potential, providing tailored support to meet diverse learning needs.

Deep knowledge of the KS2 National Curriculum is essential for this role. Your understanding of the key learning objectives, assessment strategies, and teaching methods will enable you to effectively support classroom teachers and deliver targeted interventions. Your experience will directly contribute to:

  • Ensuring pupils meet or exceed their academic targets
  • Supporting the delivery of engaging, curriculum-aligned activities
  • Differentiating support to meet individual pupil needs
  • Assisting in the development of pupils’ literacy, numeracy, and core skills
  • Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the class teacher in daily lesson delivery and classroom management
  • Providing one-to-one or small group support to pupils, especially those who require additional help with literacy and numeracy
  • Assisting with planning, preparation, and resource creation aligned with the KS2 curriculum
  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teachers
  • Supporting pupils with special educational needs (SEND) and those requiring behavioural or emotional support
  • Promoting a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages learning and confidence

Candidate Requirements

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent
  • Proven experience working within a KS2 classroom, familiar with the National Curriculum
  • Strong understanding of assessment and differentiation strategies in Key Stage 2
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and dedicated to supporting children’s learning
