Contract: Long-term with potential to become permanent
Pay: £100-£130 per day

About the Role

Monarch Education is recruiting a highly skilled, flexible, and committed Outreach Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a specialist educational setting in South Derbyshire. This role involves working off site, providing 1:1 tutoring and tailored learning support for pupils who are permanently excluded or at risk of exclusion.

Pupils often present with complex needs and behaviours that prevent them from accessing mainstream education. You will work with a personal caseload of learners, supporting them in their homes or in approved public venues, helping them engage in subjects such as Maths, English, PSD, and Functional Skills.

This is a varied and rewarding role that requires independence, resilience, strong relationship‑building skills, and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering 1:1 tutoring to pupils off site in core subjects and PSD
  • Supporting secondary‑aged pupils, with occasional work with younger pupils
  • Planning and managing your own diary and weekly caseload
  • Carrying out baseline assessments for new pupils
  • Supporting pupils to complete Functional Skills exams
  • Escorting pupils to alternative providers or potential new schools
  • Building positive, trusting relationships to support engagement and progress
  • Lone working and travelling between sessions as required
  • Contributing to a small, dedicated team focused on pupil success
  • Supporting on site when caseloads reduce

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong experience supporting disaffected or high‑needs pupils in a school or alternative setting
  • Ability to work independently, manage your own schedule, and adapt to changing needs
  • Resilience, patience, and the ability to think creatively when supporting learners
  • A positive mindset, high expectations, and a good sense of humour
  • Confidence working with challenging behaviour and complex emotional needs
  • Ability to build rapport with young people and motivate them to engage
  • Access to your own car with business insurance, as transporting pupils may be required

Why work with Monarch Education?

  • Dedicated consultant supporting you through your employment & placements
    * Weekly pay
    * Free CPD available online, resources and support provided online
    * Affinity Xtra benefits such as rewards and discounts
    * Refer a friend scheme
