Monarch Education are recruiting a Primary Teaching Assistant for a supportive and welcoming primary school in Derby from September 2026.

As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and pupils, providing classroom support, encouraging engagement and helping children develop the confidence and skills they need to thrive in school.

About the Role

You will support teaching and learning across the primary age range, working with individual pupils, small groups and whole classes as required.

The school is looking for a proactive and enthusiastic individual who can build positive relationships, support pupil progress and contribute to the wider school community.

Key Responsibilities

• Support pupils with classroom learning and daily activities
• Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions where required
• Assist teachers with lesson preparation and classroom organisation
• Encourage positive behaviour and engagement with learning
• Support pupils’ academic, social and emotional development
• Help create a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment
• Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Experience working with children in a school, nursery, childcare or educational setting
• A positive, patient and proactive approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development
• Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Nursery Practitioner, Learning Support Assistant, Sports Coach, Youth Worker or similar child-focused role would be advantageous
